Is JoVE (the Journal of Visualized Experiments) the future of scientific publishing?

JoVE is a video journal for biological research.

With the diffusion of broadband connections, the scientific world could indeed publish videos of experiments and lectures (as reviews).

Will this be the future of scientific journals?

Classic newspaper media has already shifted to a multimedia and internet / social oriented-approach, with interactive and video-rich websites.

Will the academic scientific world embrace this trend or stick to the traditional niche?

Unfortunately JoVE offers no individual subscriptions at this time. I've emailed my librarian who replied that there has been a trial period at my Faculty but with no enthusiastic success. Is such journal too futuristic? What are your thoughts and do you know similar resources?
